AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The media center for Iraq's Joint Chiefs of Staff says 11 explosive devices, including bombs, have been discovered and disarmed in the holy city of Samarra.
The discovered items included seven large improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in the form of 20-liter jerrycans and four handmade mortar shells.
During an inspection operation, an Iraqi federal police unit discovered and defused the bombs which had been provided to carry out terrorist acts.
During recent years, the holy city of Samarra (Salah ad Din Province) in northern Baghdad has been among the major targets of terrorist attacks.
Many planned terrorist attacks, however, have been foiled thanks to vigilance of the military and security forces.
